Installing application problem

I am having a problem when downloading apps from the android marketplace.

Most times when the app is downloaded and installed it is placed on a new screen even though there is enough room for it on the previous screen.

This has now led to about 7 screens and 3 of which are full.

Is there anyway to get the apps to be placed one after another and not on a new screen?

tap the center square to reveal your apps, then on the right side you should be able to see a square made out of four squares, tap on it. Now you can arrange the apps in any order that you want.

Thanks for the help. It is much more organised now. Annoying how it seperates them though.
