STR-DN1070 speaker setup

Just bought the STR-DN1070 and wanted to set it up.

Issue is that my pre-existing speaker setup is not supported.

That is, I have a "classic" 5-speaker  setup, 2 x front, 1 x center and 2 x back surround speakers

(that is, no "side" surround speakers.)

This has worked in my earlier 5.0 setup

Now it turns out that the 5(.1) setup option in DN1070 only supports (side) surround speakers but not the back surround speakers

http://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn107/v1/en/contents/TP0000965687.html

In other words, in this system overview

http://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn107/v1/en/contents/TP0001042609.html

I have only FL, CNT, FR and SBL and SBR speakers, and no SL and SR speakers.

(no zones, no ceiling or high speakers, no front B, etc)

What setup option should I use?

Hi there – try following the setup instructions available at the following link: https://bit.ly/2H5e3yK

Let us know if that works!

Cheers

thanks, but it doesn't help. I referred in my original post to the same set of sources.

The source you are referring to depicts the SR and SL speakers that are NOT surround back speakers but surround (side) speakers.

See

http://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn107/v1/en/contents/TP0000965687.html and

http://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn107/v1/en/contents/TP0001042609.html

On this list above I have SBL and SBR speakers but I don't have SL and SR speakers.

None of the options in the STR-DN1070 setup guide offer the wiring option for a 5-speaker setup where the surround speakers are not on the side (SL+SR) but they are on the back (SBL+SBR).

That's the problem.

And this setup doesn't help either

http://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn107/v1/en/contents/TP0000960364.html

this has the SBL+SBR that I have. But I don't have the SL+SR speakers hence this is not good either.
