Would you buy a Sony Laptop again?

Don't think I would.

After spending a lot of money on a VPCF24C5E about 6 years ago, there was never a year when there weren't any issues with it. Battery issues, Keyboard issues, driver issues when updated to 10 and mouse pad/buttons issues.

I have laptops which are older and don't have issues like that. I know the driver issues is probably not to bad, but the other stuff is annoying. I am currently typing this with a usb keyboard and mouse attached. It's just too painful to try without them. Half the buttons on the keyboard don't work and it's not due to being mishandled. Too say that I am very careful with my things would be an understatement, so am disappointed at having spent so much on this laptop and it not being very well built.

The search for a new supplier will start soon.

It's also strange how my account with Sony has been reset. No sign of my previously registered VPCF24C5E.

Sorry about your experience, especially that Sony's VAIO were generally reliable but unfortunately Sony decided to stop making them but otherwise I'd definitely buy one!

Generally speaking, Sony announced that they won't be supporting Windows 10 on older models -yours being one of them probably- as they couldn't guarantee compatibility or vouch for a smooth transition due to the age of those VAIO models. (Source: https://bit.ly/2HvqWlF)

It's not so much windows 10, in fact it runs windows 10 reasonably well.

My main grip is that for a laptop that cost so much, integral components like keyboard and mouse should give so much trouble.

Even sourcing replacements for such is proving difficult. Support on how to strip it down and replace the keyboard ones self is lacking. 

I think it's probably a design flaw.

As said, we have other laptops in the family that are twice as old and a quarter of the price that are still going without issues.

Yes this seems to be frustrating to use an external keyboard and mouse. If it was me, I'ld revert back to the original windows bundled with the VAIO to be able to use the laptop probably.
