need help with a Sony Hi8 camcorder with timecode
Hi all,
Between 1990 -2000 I owned a Hi8 Sony camcorder with time code, I used this camcorder for over ten years untill it broke down and was unable to be repaired.....
The trouble is i have over 35 master tapes which i can play on my present sony camcorder, but because it does not have time code i am unable to see the time and date on the tapes.
This is very upsetting to me as it is very important to be able to put a time and date on things........
Can anyone help me in this situation and point me in the right direction?
Thank you for your help......... Johnandkathy

I would look on eBay where you should be able to pick up an old Sony Hi8 camera.
Long term, I would transfer the video to DVDs - it should be possible to transfer the video including the date stamp.
Alternatively, there are commercial companies that will almost certainly have the equipment to transfer everything to DVD.

thank you for your help ..........
I have been on ebay but have not found a sony camcorder with time code? this is the problem ( if the camcorder does not have the time code built into it then it will not read the time and date on my tapes)
Thank you again for your time ............ John & Kathy.......

If you can play you present tapes in your camcorder. What software did you use before?. Are you using a PC or Mac?
