XR-A95L Sound Glitching / Dropping from External Devices

My firmware is upto date

This wasn't an issue on purchase and probably only noticed this year.

When on Netflix etc from the TV there are no issues.

I have my Sky Q box in HDMI 3 and PlayStation 5 in HDMI 4. Both have the problem but it's worse on the Playstation.

When watching all is perfect and then the sound stops for no more than a second then all is fine. The frequency is random, it could be a couple of minutes and it happens again or fine for an hour.

I did a TV reset and no difference.

Any ideas?

Hi,

From various posts I've read online (AVS Forums, AVForums, Reddit), this seems to be a well known issue with the current firmware (including the more recent firmware that was posted and subsequently removed). I've read some comments saying that an updated firmware is in test and is due in "the next few weeks" but I've no idea when this will actually be addressed.

For what it's worth, I'm also experiencing the same issues here:

* Sound stopping for a second every now and again (Apple TV, and Virgin TV360 box) via HDMI

* Sound occasionally crackling after TV startup

* Sound occasionally missing completely after switching to PS5 HDMI input

When this happens (and for the stopping-every-second issue, when it occurs sometimes it ends up happening a lot), I end up either just changing the Audio Output on the TV to 'TV Speakers' and then back to my AVR, or I just reboot the TV with a long press on the power button on the remote. As with you, this wasn't an issue when I first got my A95L (for me, this was back in April 2024).

So I think for now it's just a case of waiting until any new firmware is released, and then crossing your fingers and hoping that it's actually fixed.

Cheers,
Dean

Which particular firmware update are you referring to, my XR-42A90K received the v6.8022 which has caused

certain problems with my TV, others have posted that they too are experiencing problems which differ to mine.

Are we certain that Sony are aware of this and are working on a solution.

If you can post links to other discussions that would be helpful.

Thx for this. Glad it's not just me. I find it's the HDMI 4 which is the eARC port which is far worse. Not sure why.
