Where are iPlayer and ITV hub apps on new A90J 2021 OLEDs?
All the common UK catchup tv apps appear to be missing for the tv and they cannot be installed from google play store.. spec clearly states YouView support and specifically iPlayer.. surely i cant be the only one that has noticed these are not there?!

The individual catch-up apps and YouView are all separate apps. However, YouView is built to include a hyperlink to the appropriate catch-up app and the corresponding programme on that app (where available) for any programmes already started. The regular TV guide just doesn't have that functionality. The catch-up apps are not disabled. The guide just doesn't link through to them that's all. However, for BBC programmes, in the native guide, if you select a live programme that's already started, you do get a message, top-right inviting you to click the green button to link through to the iPlayer. So you still get some linkage between the guide and a catch-up app.
You probably know this but you can select what starts when you select the TV button. Assuming you have "Digital TV" selected then you get the option to choose either YouView (labelled as "LIVE TV & CATCHUP") or the original TV guide. On my model of TV, you get to it as follows:
Settings > Channels & Inputs > TV button shortcut
Then select Digital TV
Then select which guide you want as default.
If you select the regular TV guide (not YouView) you can still go to YouView at any time by just selecting it from your apps.

Hi All,
Thanks for all your information and persistence.
I have just updated my A80J using the standard software update method. iPlayer; ITV Hub; 4; 5 and most importantly YOUVIEW EPG!!!! are all available and working fine!
Sony, thanks for honouring your "by end of 2021" promise. However, you could have saved yourselves (AND US!) a lot of grief by: Not offering non-available facilities; telling us WHY they were delayed; responding to the many questions on YOUR community site. It is also obvious that you would have saved your retailers a lot of grief and expense and avoided having your TVs returned in favour of other makes!!
Please Please take this as a learning opportunity!!
Meanwhile, hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
All the best, Keith

BBC iplayer itv hub etc are working as of this evening on my A80j, after installing a new update. So presumably a deal has been done. Even before I installed the update pop ups came on bbc programs screens to press the green button to restart the program in iPlayer, although it didn’t work until update installed. The apps are provided through Now TV and not through Freeview so you do not get the epg which goes backwards in time and launches the appropriate app when you select a program you want to watch ( freeview plus). Still better than no apps at all.

Hi lukeymo
I know this might not be the thread for this, but my apps seem to only be accessible through Sony select.
They don't seem to have moved to my main list/home screen. (I have used them)
Is there something I need to do?
Would like not to have to go into Sony select every time.

I think if you select an app and long press on the middle 'enter' button, you get a little menu to move the individual apps. I've done that so they are in the apps line.

Thanks Sony!
Downloaded the update on my A84J. Got logged into All4 and ITV hub. Don't use iplayer as I don't pay for a TV licence as it seems like a waste of money as BBC rarely make good shows now, they spend more money sending me and others like me threatening letters in the post twice a month which are a bit of a nuisance as there's a second clear window on the letter which usually has some threat or disparaging remark (directed at me) on it which my postman/woman can see. That's a BBC issue though.
Great that I can now use my TV for what it was intended for. Streaming, catch up TV, a PC media centre display and for PC gaming. The lack of 4 HDMI 2.1 ports is a bit of a let down compared to LG's entry to the OLED display world but prefer the Sony software, a voice remote which works, a mic in my TV (with a physical off switch if I feel like having privacy) and the supposed Sony premium quality. The USB 3.0 port and the other extra I/O on the TV along with the better picture quality (maybe the LG G1 could outdo it) are the reasons I went with Sony over LG.
That and the fact that my last LG broke (started flickering) within 2 and a half years post-purchase.
My faith is restored in Sony now. Thanks for following through on your 2021 promise and it was a good Christmas gift. Much appreciated. Hopefully I get at least 5 more good years from the TV I bought.
Not sure what to do with the firestick I got given by curry's. It feels wrong to hold onto it, though the time travelling there and then the time spent talking to their argumentative sales manager makes me feel like I would rather donate it to someone who needs it.

Want to echo the same sentiment. I am utterly delighted to have my favourite streaming apps on my favourite tv and I am so grateful to Sony for honouring their promise. I just really hope they learn from this going forward. So many people returned their sets because of the lack of clarity and transparency. Sometimes, the customer can’t get everything they want, we the customer actually understand this and believe it or not we are actually on your side. We want this tv to succeed because it is an amazing device and we see sony as a recognised benchmark of quality. We just wanted sony to treat us like we mattered. To provide us with regular updates and solid rationale, make us feel we are on this journey together instead of a nuisance, because that Sony (if you are listening) is how you made me and so many others feel.
