Sony Bravia TV Model : KD49XH8096BU Purchased Nov 2020
Hi, I previously had a 37 inch Sony Bravia and could use all streaming/catchup services ok.
In November I changed to the 49 inch model above and have found that there is a lot of buffering with BBC I-player even though my internet speeds are over 10Mb/sec. This rarely happened on the 37 inch TV.
Netflix/You Tube/All 4/Prime and Channel 5 all play ok without buffering.
I contacted BBC I-player support and they suggested four things:
(a) Switch off tv and restart
(b) Switch off router and restart
(c) Check that latest firmware is installed
(d) Reinstall I-Player
I have done the first three and buffering still happens.
I-Player was already installed on the TV and I cannot see how to uninstall/reinstall this.
Any ideas? Or any other suggestions how to solve the problem ?
Forgot to say that prior to contacting I-Player support I had done a factory reset of the TV.
Are you aware that 10 mbps for a 4k tv is not sufficient? I don't know what and how BBC streams the content (and how adaptive its protocol is), but on Netflix your are looking at a FHD streaming on your tv being that it needs 15 mbps stable connection for 4K (prime probably more, youtube make it at least 50).
Thanks rooobb
I have the I-player picture quality set to the lowest.
