Model - 55XG8096
Bought 27 June 2020
Worked brilliant for a few days.
Have never connected any devices to it.
I checked for software updates last week and installed whatever was available.
A new UI appears.
>> But since that moment the WiFi just keeps connecting/disconnecting every few seconds <<
Not other device connected to the WiFi does this.
I have tried all the recommended fixes ... rebooting, turning off for a few minutes, two factory resets ...etc.
Software info on TV displays this:
Version: 8.0.0
Android security patch level: 1 September 2019
Kernel version: 3.10.79
root@BuildHost672 #1
Thu Nov 7 13:47:39 JST 2019
Build
BRAVIA_ATV3_kK_EU-user 8.0.0 OPR2.170623.027.S30
665451 release-keys
I've logged a ticket with SONY - let's see how soon I get a response.
I'm also wondering if I can download software onto a USB stick and follow instructions to roll-back the firmware update that I assume happened as part of the update - but I cannot find any instructions or links.
Very unhappy, especially given the TV is only 1 week old 😞
Is your ISP sky? If so try turning off IPV6 in the router
Thanks Tony - it's eir as it happens - do you still think turning off IPV6 is worth trying?
What issues might that cause elsewhere in the home and all the devices connected.
Thanks again.
Not sure tbh. With sky people have turned off IPV6 on the lan side with some success, but I've also seen posts it can impact work vpn or ip cameras
Maybe try at a quiet time to see if the tv is then OK and if anything else stops working (assuming you can find the right setting in the isp router to allow you to turn it off)
Or try this but might be a red herring. https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00052930
unfortunately there isn't a wiff of a menu item in the TV UI that references ipv6 (or ipv4 for that matter)
Looks like ipv6 is already turned off
I logged onto Router directly and disabling IPv6 appears to have worked
