Feature- and Security-Updates Xperia 5V

Hi,

I want to switch back from an iPhone to a Sony Xperia.

I'm planning to buy the Xperia 5V because it has good specs and isn't too big. I don't like large smartphones because they don't fit in my pocket. The phone was released in 2023, and now it's 2025. Until when is it guaranteed to receive feature updates like new Android versions, and until when will it get security updates? I plan to keep the smartphone for at least 2 or 3 years. Will I get updates until 2028, or until when will I receive them?

Also, can you maybe recommend another Xperia smartphone of nearly similar size and specs that might receive updates for a longer period?

Hi @SonyXperiaUser, the Xperia 5 V will get updates until September 2026. I'd recommend getting the Xperia 1 VI as it has Bug Fix & Security Update Plan for 4 years until 2028 as you wish, and it's smaller in size than the Xperia 5 V.

I am a bit confused, you write that the 1VI is smaller but it is not smaller, it is bigger.

Maybe you mean another model?
