topic Connecting Sony DVD/HDD recorder/tuner to a Sony TV/tuner in Home Cinema, Projectors & Players

I have bought a new Sony32KDLEX403 TV. Previously I used a Sony DC205 DVD recorder / digital tuner on my old Sony trinitron CRT which worked very well on digital channels. However when connected to the new TV I dont get a TV signal from the recorder. (Connected via HDMI), initially just a highly pixilated frozen screen. (I had skiped the tuning of the TV tuner in intial set up because the DC205 one seemed so good, however , I then tuned internal tuner on the new TV and that works with excellent picture, however whenever I switch the input to the HDMI channel, the recorder is on the TV just is blank or flashes "no signal" (and yes the DVD recorder is swiched on), I can view the guide and set recordings. The HDMI connection is OK I think as I have watched old saved content and recorded new programmes and watched them with excellent picture. So, The problem is that the DC205 cant ever be on even if Im watching Digital on the TV tuner, as I get no TV picture as soon as it is comes on. This is a real issue because if a timer recording swiches in I lose all TV and cant even watch the channel that is recording (which I used to do). This is very dissaponting as otherwise the picture quality and TV performance are excellent. I would have thought the output from the 205 should be watchable. Any ideas??
