Ht g700 - bravia tv muting sound

I have a Bravia 55inch tv with an HT G700 Soundbar. When earc set to auto on bravia the first few seconds of a channel change are muted, this also happens when adverts come on , losing first few seconds of each advert. Seen this on other forums but no answers. Can anyone advise before I throw them out the window?

I believe the alternative is a loud and very ugly noise burst, as this is clipping one digital audio stream in mid-flow and starting another digital stream. It’s not at all like the transition would have been on analogue.

Accordingly, the momentary muting is kinder both on the speakers involved and on your ears.
