network ping bravia when off

I have a 55" bravia with a wired network connection. for more than 2 years the tv only replies to pings when on or off for 10 minutes.
however in the last 2 weeks the tv replies to pings regardless of its on off state.

Hi there

I have just tested it with my 2011 TV, and I can also ping the TV's ip address whilst in a "standby" state. I havent tested it, if in standby for more than 30mins to an hour (as sometimes the network port in devices will switch off with no activity after a set period). You might want to search around the Eco / powersaving settings.

It could also have to do with a Wake On LAN function (if supported) but unsure.
