Hi,

I have a Vaio PCG-TR5MP, really nice tool. But there's a problem now.

As soon as I turn on Wireless, the system is freezing. The mousepointer doesn't move anymore, nothing happens. Not even ALT+CTRL+DEL works. I have to turn the computer off.

This happens when I activate Wireless with the hardware switch, but also when I turn wireless off through system control and then turn it on again. The system crashes as soon as I want to activate wireless in any way. I don't think it's a software problem because I reinstalled Windows from the Sony Restore disk, but the error is still here.

Any suggestions? Sound's like a hardware problem to me...
Thanks!

Hi celway,

Welcome to Club Vaio!

It sounds like your wireless card is conflicting with other hardware - have you installed any new hardware/USB Devices recently?

Look in Device manager to see if there are any warnings or conflicts against your wireless card.

You can try uninstalling the card and rebooting to reload the drivers and reallocate a different IRQ - this may resolve the conflict.

Thanks! You got me on the right way!

I have previously deinstalled the wireless card, but it didn't help. So now I tried again, just this time I uninstalled all the network deviced and let Windows reinstall them on the next boot. And wow, it works again!!

Problem solved! And I already thought I had to buy a new Vaio...

Michael
