NOTEBOOK CANNOT DETECT CD DRIVE

i try to make a back up of my pc and burn some stuff on a cd

but my vaio cannot detect my cd drive, if i put a game in the drive it doesnt detect it and like 1 week ago it did?....

how can i get my drive back..

Hi Philippoussis,

Have you checked in device manager for any conflicts under DVD/CD-ROM drives?

I see from other threads that you have replaced your hard drive!

It also seems several things are not working! A lot of these things may be connected - always helps if you include them all in one thread!

Have you reinstalled all the drivers and utilities for your Vaio?

i didnt change my hard drive yet, i ordered the hard drive i have it tomorrow so i wanted to make a back up on some cd;s but my vaio doesnt recognize the cd drive anymore...

last week it worked and now it doesnt work and i didnt change anythiung..

can somebody maybe help me with my problem,

if i put a cd in my cd drive the computer doesnt recognize it,
i looked in hardware profile there is no problem,
is it possible that in some way a cable or what ever is not connected anymore,

or what else can be the problem?..

i wanted to make a back up because in 2 days i will repalce my hard drive.

Is the drive in a removable bay? If so take it out and put it back in

i dont know but how can i open my notebook

i have a sony vaio vgn-fj1s

i remove all the screws and then the part with the cd drive stucks some where icannot open it..

i want to open it so i can check if the cable is not good connected and i want to change my hard drive..

but what can be the problem with the cd drive if i press open it will open and it starts to read only the computer doesnt recognize the cd..
in hardware profile i also cannot find my hard drive.. and i dont see any yellow ?

i know kind of the problem now..

it is something with the drivers out of nothing..

yesterday i was trying some things and my cd drive worked and i burned some cd's then i restart the computer and again the computer could not find my cd drive.. i download the4 drivers from the sony webstie and still it doesnt work...

whick drivers do i need or how can i make it work again?.. if i install a new hard drive because i have already a new hard drivehere.. does it work if i install windows on it? or do i have the same proble..
