Do you have alot of processes and applications that execute on startup?

Try downloading a trial of Tune Up Utilities. You could have a look in serivces, but Tune Up has a startup manager that lets you choose what runs at startup.

When you say forever, how long are we talking?

If it's just a bit slow, then use Bootvis. Not sure if you can still download as MS took it off, but it's the ultimate tool for reducing boot time and boot optimisation.

If it's a case of minutes to start up, it's likely a system service is failing. See event viewer (start > run > eventvwr) for errors relating to service startup failures. This is the most common cause.

HTH

Mat
