Windows 8 in re-start loop

Sony Vaio t- series only 4 months old. Running windows 8.

On switch of the computer, the screen goes straight to the blue screen, re-starts to fix problems and the re-starts again. continously.

Tried windows 8 recover on USB:

- cannot refresh

- Cannot restore previous settings

- cannot auto fix

On trying refresh, the computer says the installation drive needed is locked.

tested linux/ubuntu and can access hard drive so no problem there.

however booting windows is impossible.

can anyone advise?

have checked the internet for solutions but cant seem to find one to what now seems a common problem with windows 8?!?!!

Hi Seven_RS.

Can you access Vaio Care Rescue Mode? Try pressing the ASSIST button with the Vaio completely turned off.

I don't suppose you can see the error message on the blue screen?

What Anti Virus are you using?

Hi Blencogo,

I can access Vaio Care Rescue mode. i have used this to boot a USB of Ubuntu and check my files on the hard drive which are ok. Also tried windows 8 recovery from USB but i have no option to access safe mode.

I cannot see the message on the blue screen as it is too fast.

I use Norton 360 Anti Virus.
