obsolete docking station?

I bought a VAIO 17 inch with docking station 3.5 years ago...I had to send it (the computer) back to Sony 3 times for various misfunctions and finally 6 months after the extended warranty expired the LCD screen gave up the ghost. Perhaps stupidly I bought a new VAIO laptop instead and now, guess what, no way to connect my expensive docking station or speakers. Or is there a way? Can anyone help or shall I just throw the station though the window of Sony's main UK office for designing equipment that goes obsolete? Answers anyone?
