System restore to fix dvd drive problem?

I have had a problem with my dvd drive on my N11S/W whereby it does read DVD's but doesn't recognise any cd's I insert. I phoned comet where i bought it and they said it is probably a software problem but they wanted to charge £25 to fix it even though i have a warranty on it. Will a full system restore fix the problem? Thanks

Hi barnesy99,

It is difficult to say if it will fix the problem but if it doesn't then it will probably be a hardware problem and the drive will need replacing.

Is there a firmware update for your particular drive here: -
