I downloaded the GMA Driver with the 'zip' option. As well as unzipped stuff I've got 3 zipped folders and a setup application. I tried running the setup (possibly a mistake) and it was blocked, a box with a red cross said it wasn't valid for my PC or something like that, and the file disappeared but it's back now.
The zips are called:
vbios_g33
vbios_g965
vbios_gm965
but I don't know which to use. Maybe not vbios_g33 if that's a different chipset family (I've got Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family), but I don't know the difference between g965 and gm965, or if I need to do anything with the uncompressed stuff which includes:
autorun difxapi.dll iff2 setup
& 3 folders: Graphics hdmi lang

Thanks for your help.

Support at www.mastertronic.com advised me to get the latest graphics drivers, to get a game to not stop working.
I've got a VAIO VGN-NR21E/S, with Display Device:
Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
and Main Driver:
igdumd32.dll Version 7.14.0010.1295 (English)

The Intel site says get drivers from the manufacturer, i.e. Sony. I've done all the updates except two which go wrong (Click to Disk and VAIO Movie Story). Trying to find if I have the latest driver, I ended up at:

http://www.xpvistaworld.com/mobile_intel_r_965_express_chipset_family_806.htm

where they list:

Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family driver
Developer: Intel
Version: 9.1.5
Filename: Intel_winvista_1523.exe
Size: 39.37 Mb
OS: Windows XP,Windows 2000 SP2,Windows 3.11,Windows 2000,Windows Vista,Windows NT SP1,Windows 2000 SP3,Windows NT SP3,Windows NT SP4,Windows 98 SE
License: freeware

Should I try that driver? I wouldn't advise anyone to do so unless they really know what they're doing. I find it all very confusing.

The latest graphics driver for Vista 32-bit is Version 15.9 (7.14.10.1472) available here: -

GMA Driver for Visat 32.bit v15.9

Sony try to stop you using a non Sony driver and sometimes prevent the self installing .EXE version from installing. You may have to download the .ZIP version and right-click on it and choose "Extract All". There is usually a Setup.exe in the extracted files.

It is always safest to use the latest Sony tried and tested driver but this may not be the latest version. Sony will only update the driver if there is a known problem with the latest one available. You update to a non Sony driver version at your own risk but it is usually easy to roll back to the old Sony version if you encounter a problem.
