Hello once again. I have a problem that has just appeared in that I can not hibernate my vaio laptop. The facility for pressing shift to change standby to hibernate and the Fn+F12 does not work. I have been into Control Panel>Power Options but the Hibernation tab is not available there either! Any idea what has happened please??
Many thanks,
Gyron

Bit worried what caused the problem in the first place though.
One thing I didn't mention was that when I have been trying to Hibernate a message as follows came up a few times;

"Windows - System Error Insufficient system resourses exist to complete tha API"

any ideas what all this means?

Thank you once again for your kind help,

Kindest regards,

Gyron

Hi Thalamus,

I have an early Vaio PCG-Z1SP with SP1 installed (deliberately resisted installing SP2 'cos of problems various people have had and also SP1 seems to work OK for me). The only upgrade I have installed was a couple of years ago and this was to add some more RAM so that I am now at max. of 1GB. The problem of Hibernation has just arisen for some reason.

Kind regards,

Gyron

Before I do maybe you can advise me a little further please - I had thought about using the 'Windows XP System Restore tool' to go bck to say a month ago when I did not have this problem AND then maybe use the Windows XP Patch you suggest. What do you think?

I upgraded my laptop to 1GB RAM well over 18 months ago and this is the first time Hibernation has risen its ugly head.

Kind regards,

Gyron
