Vertical Lines on ..

Some months after my warranty expired some vertical lines appeared on my display without no reason. I have got a Vaio VGN-AR11M. There are now 3 vertical lines on the right (blue, green, bleu) and a central one, purple coloured.
I really dont know whats happening even since i took religious care of my notebook . Anybody the same problem?

Hi talmarc and welcome.

Unfortunately it sounds like a hardware LCD failure and to replace the screen is very expensive. You may prefer to live with the problem until you choose to upgrade your laptop.

Does this also happen during boot-up before Windows loads - when you see the first Vaio screen? If no, then replace your graphics driver with a later version. If yes, then it is your screen.

Does the same fault show on an external monitor? If no then it is your screen.

You can get an engineer to check the cable connectors but, sadly, this fault is usually in the screen panel and needs replacement.

I am afraid it's my LCD failure too. Damn. I'll try to connect to an external monitor, but I'm sure that I'll see no line over there. As concerns my Vaio, the "fab"four lines appear immediately, they're faster than the logo Vaio..

Am I the only one? I'd like to count other people (if) with this lucky problem.

I've got an AR11M as well and my single green line appeared last week. Its going to cost an arm and a leg to fix but i figured that i would live with it for now until more lines appear and i cant use it.

You could use the Trading Standards not fit for purpose clause, but I don't know how far you'd get.

the green one was my first line...
Sony should substitute our LCDs which are breaking for unknown reasons

Same here.. ar21m.. About a month ago one blue line showed up...Unfortunatly i cant ship it yet for repair.. but after a month a now have about 10 lines.....
