VGF-AP1L - Transfer error, after firmware update

Hey all.

I have a VGF-AP1L and I have reccently updated the firmware which has improved the product dramatically.

Problem I am having is it will now not let me transfer any music to my device, when ever i try using the latest version of sonicstage I get an error saying i must format my device as the old tracks where put on using an older version of sonicstage, which isnt true.

Does anyone know how to solve this, as I have alot of music on there and it took me days to transfer it all over, and i really really do not want to have to do it again, it just isnt a practical solution.

Anyone got any ideas?

Welcome to the club,
I use real player 10.5 + after burning the music from sonic stage to a CD as a .wav files which it allows you to do), I then convert it to mp3 using real player. Another solution is to try reinstalling sonic stage

I have tried reinstalling it and i still get the same error telling me i need to format it.

I have also tried the music transfer software but that simply says it cannot find the device.

I am really considering buying a new mp3 player, i dont want to as i love my vaio but this problem has really annoyed me.

I had the same error - running Vista home, firmware update and sonicstage 4.3 Using vgf-ap1l
Device recognised only for a few seconds then dropping out

I uninstalled Sonicstage 4.3 and re-installed version 3.3 from this link -

Now all ok - device recognised.

does your solution really work?

is the update still on your vaio and now you can transfer music files like allways?

i didn't try i yet, however yesterday I first updated my VAIO, then i COULDN't transfer any more music files and there was a message i should update my sonic stage.
i downloaded an updated sonic stage 4.3. cs (the new vista version) and now i get the same message like the guy above... ;-(

i hope you had the same mysery that i can also downgrade to sonic stage 3.3, or was it different?

yeah it worked!

now i can use my beloved VAIO Pocket again, an with the update, it is improved extremely

Thanks for the advice all but none actually fix my problem, i have tried installing sonic stage 3.3 and it still says i must delete all music on my device and start from scratch.

Anyone got any other ideas?

hi!

i also tried to reinstall sonic stage 3.3 so i downloaded it from the official sony page - and i DIDN'T work...

so i looked for other download sites with ss 3.3 and i downloaded it of one of these 2 pages (don't know exactly which one is was, try both).

although you download and install sonic stage 3.3. your sonic stage on your computer will still be 4.3 (but at least on my computer i don't have the 4.3. connect cs version) and know it works, i can upload all cds and mp3s like allways...

hello!

does anybody of you have another solution for this problem? i had to reset my computer and now i had to install all of my progs again and now i always get the same warning message (like above)!

help me i don't want to delete all my music?
