Vaio PC - remote control problem

Hi

I have a Vaio PCV-RS704 that comes with a remote control unit (RM-VC10E) which was working fine until I deleted whatever driver/update I had on the PC that worked it!

Any ideas how I can revive? Is there anything on any Sony website that I can download or could the problem be elsewhere?

Try navigating to C:\Program Files\Sony\Vaio Zone Remote Commander
and running AvRmtCtr.exe.

If that doesn't work come back and we'll think again.

just to drag this thread up again, I have a similar problem with my V2M; went back to XP as Vista was killing me, not being able to get Vaio Zone to work!

Did a clean install, used the "driver package" from the downloads page. Remote works after a fashion, but I can't alter the volume; it's either full or mute! And I can't change TV channels, which isn't a problem right now, but might be in the future.

Anyone have any idea where I can get an update driver? Tried the above advice, but nothing happened.

Hi I've got the same problem with my VGC-V3M
Everything on the remote works except for the volume
press the '-' and it shows the 'mute' sign but nothing actually happens
press the '+' and it shows the 'volume bar' blank with no increase in volume
I got the the Vaio Zone remote commander driver from the Vista section as there only updates download in the Windows XP section of the vaio support website
I must say Vista is a sham for only people who thinks its Fashionable, for me its not practical and useless, I feel the same for guys who might have tried Vista and gone back to Windows XP Pro.
Anyone out there, I'll be very grateful it a solution can be provided

got the same problem with VGC-V3m after a lot of update (microsoft XP & vaio update).
I started manually the program AVRMTCTR.EXE and all works well!
Why now AVRMTCTR.EXE doesn't start automatically ?

do I need to run the program manually every time computer works ?
