I have just purchased a VGC-LT2S desktop/mediacenter and it looks great.

My problem is that I am unable to achieve a full-screen picture output on my 22inch screen (black bands either side) in either tv, via MCE, or dvd playback.

Am I correct in thinking that the GPU from NVIDIA pre-installed into this system does NOT support full-screen output ?

If I am correct then this is such a shame, it's the only annoying part of a generally great looking and sounding system.

I hope that my hunch about the NVIDIA is incorrect and there is a logical way around this problem...

peace
shapslaps...xxx 🙂

Actually it is most likely everything is set up correctly it is just that the aspect ratio of the screen does not match the aspect ratio of any TV or DVD standard, so you will never have a completely full screen picture, i.e. no black bars either left, right, top, bottom depending on what source you are viewing unless you overide the normal behaviour of maintaining a fixed aspect ratio when zooming a TV or video source to fill the screen. I haven't checked your specific model but I think all widescreen PC monitors have a 16:10 aspect ratio and TV will normally be 4:3 or 16:9 (these may include black bars when showing letterbox matterial) and many DVDs will use 2.35:1.

If you want to fill the screen you will have to distort the image shape, I think it should be possible to override the normal behaviour either in the video card settings or by using the zoom options in Media Center, I think setting 3 zooms the image the way you want.
