Sony Vaio T Series Ultrabook Backslash Key missing

I have just purchased in the USA this fantastic machine but I have a slight problem with the keyboard.

I installed the English language pack and can find the £ sign where the # key is (Shift3) I can live with this.

The # key is however on the backslash key and I really need the backslash when logging onto my server.

Please can someone advise where I can find it as the only option is to copy and paste from a document with the backslash in. Not ideal.

Its Windows 8 by the way.

Hi petergable and welcome.

A common problem where you have to either lose the £ key or the \ key.

Have a look at this Tutorial for re-mapping the UK # key to add \ when Alt Gr is pressed, and | when Alt Gr + SHIFT is pressed:

I'm not sure if the MKLC installs on Windows 8 - but you can create your customised keyboard layout by downloading MKLC onto a Windows 7 (or any other) machine and then you can copy and install your new keyboard layout on your Windows 8 Vaio.
