Hello.

I'm trying to use my DCR-HC54E as part of a live-streaming set up. I want it to send live video via the mini-usb port to something (anything) on a Windows 8.1 laptop with no Firewire. I remeber being able to do this fairly intuitively with Windows XP out of the box.

Does anyone think this might be do-able?

Welcome to the community.

You'll need to install PlayMemories Home (Windows) onto your laptop. You can do so by following the instructions on this page.
