thankyou for your help I checked the support website but I don't think its compatible with windows 7 I also tried Microsoft windows movie maker and that didn't recognise my handycam

USB is not supported with Windows 7.

Have you tried using an iLink Cable (Firewire, DV) to connect to your PC and then use Windows Movie Maker?

The iLink socket is in the Handycam Station - next (left) to the Power In socket. I believe it is only an output from the camera to the PC - you cannot transfer video from PC to the camcorder.

Hi Blencogo, thankyou for your help I will go for ilink cable tomorrow and try that, will be so happy if it works will let you know .
