topic A7iii with 100-400mm GM lens - Soft Focus problem in Alpha & NEX interchangeable lens cameras

Hi everyone,

this morning I came back from some BIF photography, and EVERYTHING had a soft focus - not one picture was sharp. I was using 1/2000 to 1/4000 with an ISO range of 200 - 2000, AF-C with tracking and other methods. The tracking mostly locked onto the subject and tracked it, but in the end it was all very soft - nothing in the shot had a good focus. It seems to struggle with the distance, because close subjects are extremely sharp!

I also used the RX10iv and almost every shot was amazingly in focus.

Here a shot with the soft focus. It looks in focus when it's uncropped.

Here the detail:

Any ideas what I could try out/change in the settings would be appreciated!

Ginny

Welcome to the community.

I'll just see if I can find any help regarding this. In the meantime though, maybe another community member might have some ideas.

Thanks,
