ECM-B1M compatibility with a7Mk3

I have been looking at the ECM-B1M microphone for use on my a7Mk3 and I am astonished to find that this microphone only operates digitally on two of Sony 'a' series cameras. Does anyone know if there is a significant quality difference between Analogue and Digital on this microphone please?
