Adding files to mass storage?

I tried to add a 4.50 g MKV movie file to the mass storage and said it wouldn't fit my card I have still has 25 gigs!

Does it have to be formated a certain way to add it or is there files it won't accept?

Are you using Windows10? There have been reported incidents of file transfer problems with this OS.

No Windows 7! I can add a 8 gig music movie file no problem but a 4.50 g mkv file no way?

This could be related to the file system type of the drive (FAT32, NTFS, etc) as some system file formats have some restrictions such as FAT32.

hi,

FAT32 will not allow you to have a single file larger than 4gb. NTFS can store single files larger than any current hard drive. An example of such files might be a blue ray video, 4k video, sometimes outlook pst files get larger than 4gb. NTFS is a prefered format for any current windows machine or storage device.

i know about NTFS what through me was i seen exfat or something. I never seen it before. Thought it was some new format lol im old school..

Why can I put a Eagles Blueray 8 gig on it, but not a 4.5 gig mkv file?? This is what I'm not getting?

Windows or Mac OS? If it is a mac, then you need to reformat the drive to the Mac OS Extended Journaled File system and then the 5 GB file will copy to the drive.

exFAT file system is NOT compatible with some host devices such as TV, game systems, older operating systems, car stereos etc.

exFAT file system that allows a single file larger than 4GB to be stored on the device. This file system is also compatible with Mac.

Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.6.6 and higher are compatible with exFAT out of the box. Older operating systems may need a patch installed (service packs from windows updates).

If nothing works, then try rename the file before you save the file to the destination.
