Sony XNV-L77BT - Battery Replacement

Hi.. I have Sony XNV-L77BT which re-boots when switching on three or four times before staying on. Is this caused by the on-board battery needing replacement? Is it worth while replacing it or updating the unit for a new one? Driving me crazy waiting to be able to set the sat-nav unit!!!!
