Xperia Z1 software update engine failure (error 1601)

Sony PC companion is not able to run software update 14.1.G.2.257
States problem as "Unable to run update components on your computer"

Details :
Sony Update Engine Failure (error 1601)

Already tried troubleshooting. Sony PC companion has been allowed to communicate through windows firewall.

Laptop runs on windows 8 with usb 3 ports.

Tried installing and running PC companion on a desktop with winows 7 and usb 2 port but same error.

Switched off the firewall as well and tried again error occurs again.

Read similar posts regarding error 1601 but none relating to Xperia Z1.

Can someone please help me?!

Im getting the same error, i tried disabling my firewall but that didnt work.

Doesnt SUS wipe your phone?

It could delete all your sms, mms, contacts, apps.

SUS worked! Thank you!

Back up settings were on and none of the data was wiped out.
