You should know we are more than 2 people testing these, fans of Sony. One works to a store like Amazon in my country an notifies me also. Sad when it's only hope while these were solve so easily in the past! Thant is why when you want to help test them too with the same devices. Thank you anyways!

Recently I got an Xperia 10 II and I found two interesting things.

First, Xperia 10 II uses almost the same CMOS as Xperia 10 Plus.

Xperia 10 II:

26mm Wide-angle: IMX486

52mm Telephoto: Samsung s5k4h7yx

16mm Ultra-wide-angle: Samsung s5k4h7yx

Self-cam: Samsung s5k4h7yx

Xperia 10 Plus:

Wide-angle: IMX486

Telephoto: Samsung s5k4h7yx

Self-cam: Samsung s5k4h8

Second, as Sony introduced Xperia 10 Plus owns 2x optical zoom, 10 II uses the same CMOS, we should own this feature right?

For Xperia 10 II, from top to bottom, the first cam is 16mm Ultra-wide-angle, the second one is 26mm Wide-angle, the third one is 52mm Telephoto.

I tested on FW: 59.0.A.8.33, on 2x mode. I think this picture should be taken by Telephoto cam, right? It is a 8MP sensor, but I got a 12MP photo.

So I tried to cover Telephoto cam with my finger when taking photo in 2x mode, as I thought, I got a "2X zoom" photo although Telephoto cam is coverd. This picture should only be taken by 26mm Wide-angle cam.

From my knowledge, xiaomi A2 & redmi 7A also uses imx486, but they don't support optical zoom. So Xperia 10 II never uses its Telephoto cam and it doesn't support 2x optical zoom at all. You could test on your own phone.

-----------------Edit-----------

52mm cam only disabled in dark environment.

Look at this thread https://community.sony.ro/t5/xperia-10/xperia-10-ii-dual-issues/m-p/3680829#M2423

Issues called for almost 5 months. These careless ones do nothing not even when mailing to the support\help center. Please check out in detail what we have tested for 10II in that thread and that no one to have not a single pertinent answer but only BS! So please test for yourself the following:

Stock camera in superior auto mode delays 1 second for activating the so called 2x zoom the telephoto sensor that have so many issues while focusing and usually it gets wrong all the time (color rendering also very bad). Without waiting the 1 second delay it is only activated the wide sensor that have such a bad edge processing while zooming (look at thread). Time for focus and precision in focusing it's something Sony never had as bad (test for yourself).

Exif data is wrong or fake. The telephoto (ultra wide sensor too) is only 8mp but in the exif writing is 12mp superior auto mode. Both these sensors cannot be used in manual mode (metering in superior mode for ultra wide sensor in low light with flash is useless, burning the whole picture).

Manual mode is useless when auto focusing because it takes so much time to get the right spot and object is missed so many times. Only fixed focus is available and usable but still wrong distance when set at max to infinity.

Manual mode shutter speeds lower than 1\8 it's unusable because noise reduction is no more, color distortion and grain being at max (see thread). Not to mantion HDR manual mode (only in manual mode available) it's so bad compared to any Xperia till now (same bad focusing and color rendering with lots of grain even on daylight - low iso).

Using copy-cat-crap made sensors by Shamesung it's a real shame for Sony too and the front camera it's the real proof for that. No manual modes available but only with third party apps that access in some way the api2 mode and take much better shots and give also great HDR ones. 10II is still expensive and they don’t care!

Conclusions: From XA2 family the camera si made by ZTE or some other chinese coding trademark in their api2 exif data (test for yourself). L3 and L4 are also very bad in camera departments (but still better than focusing and shutter speeds for manual than 10II). L4 jpeg naming is now IMG and color rendering it's no more like Sony use to have still some third party coding trademark is used. Sony didn't make any camera software change for more than 5 months knowing these issues are for real regarding 10II. Sony now doesn't use their own sensors and don’t listen to their die-hard fans and I am so sad (look what answers they send to us in the thread above without testing themselves)!

Please give more examples here maybe with your tests they will do something good and for real!

Thank for these information.

52mm finally works in bright environment.

Yup, as you said, camera on Xperia 10 II is really bad. Sony tried to reduce the cost of this phone as much as possible. It is really unbelievable they used the same cmos on Xperia 10 plus.

Yes after like in old tractors changing gears, after you push 2x and stay one second then you hear a crank then the sensor is changed and then you can take picture or eventually zoom in with the telephoto softer and better grain noise decoding (still worse for colors, reddish tins are awful). In dark (high iso) the superior mode 2x changing to telephoto the stock camera freezes and shot is took like-no-other as slow (more than 2-3 seconds mostly it's necessary to restart the camera while focus and other settings are gone and once again 5-6 seconds wasted in vain for the subject if it's moving or so). Without third party app this camera is crap! This is not Sony. For ten years a device wasn't that bad at least for camera department when 1II is wanted to be the best... Sad!

Please test other things and put them here to understand we are more than 2 people using this device with the same camera driver issues. At least one more Xperia user that really cares and say something true! Thank you!

Cosmic Tomato mind you BS business that you have, that never helped anyone but to blow useless bombs (like: Oh so it works!) Take a 10II and test for yourself and stop BS-ing that it works. Take one and see for yourself how lame it works! Read my tests also and see that the connection from wide to telephoto is so bad - like sjllls says (even if it works after seconds of waiting to focus) then it takes the photo, but its focusing, its processing, its low light it's like never before for Xperia. Give true signs to engineers because Support and Care are BS-ing users no matter how many complaints they get! So for now on please buy a device and give yourself proof to Sony not to us when we see how lame it is and we can do nothing!

For you BS impressions and lame reading these issues (useless admins), this user is not my friend and I don't know him, but one thing is for sure that he is among ones that want this device to work properly and 10II (and other Xperia never be resend to stores) for that, I thank him so much!

Please give proof that Sony people are deaf and insolent of their most passionate users! These issues are for real!

See people who is acting here: NOOBS!

What makes you able to help a 10II user as long as you don't know even the 1II. I didn't have the money but I have the knowledge to know what means Xperia. What are you doing? Fooling around or flirting with strangers?! Where is your 10II testing this issues? As you can see you are useless helping others and I don't care what Xperia you have as long as you are an outsider about 10II and these threads. Sony must find what is writing with 10II ONLY from 10II users! You?! At least tell Sony engineers this issues are for real and then you have my respect!

For now you are just BS-ing and loosing precious time!

For real fact users of 10II today was released the 59.0.A.8.45-R4A version. It's not for my region but who can tell if Sony did something good for camera driver - let us know. Thank you!

I am not here to disturb anybody and truly thank you for helping. I know what you did but have you read what answer was after that?! I posted in my thread!

As long as people able to give a helping hand did nothing for so many months in what 10II (and L4, but today I we are still checking problems with ringtone with a friend and now it's apparently solved) is facing with from the beginning (because we never met this carelessness for Xperia from Sony) regarding care and support forums (I and friends of mine wrote to Sony from 2009 way before this merging of profiles and solved most of the important issues like camera noise or screen\speaker issues), now you and your other (well intention other guy sending me private messages) from a distance come and test me and my English, instead to take a R23A series of 10II in your hands and see for yourself what is happening and that we are truly wanting to help.

Theoretically 59.0.A.8.45 should solve these camera issues if you did something. Otherwise only gossiping about 10II user's moods, while we care about these devices and Sony doesn't really care, will produce long term negative effects. Sony did much better in the past. Now?!

Do something effective and for that all users will really and truly THANK YOU!

Nor do I, but when this happens it's really sad. It's unbelievable and Sony should remedy by listen to its users not to close markets (there are too few to receive in time issues for low and mid devices, most people really don't care Sony knows or not to prepare or test a device)! If you can suggest to them please do it I tried everything. At least for Android 11 upgrade they must fix its stock camera. These devices are quite expensive and few people will buy it if not return them to stores (I know cases even for 1II because of stock superior mode camera for selfies that is really not up to its price). 10 II and L4 are amazing in most regards but issues like these screw them gracely. Thank you for helping!

I know man, I do report as many unsolvable issues as I can find, and with my own devices.

you're doing them favors by reporting these findings of yours, just wanna say, I do think it's quicker to get in touch with the support right away, instead of here where only users would help, keep it up and stay lit bruh.

You should know we are more than 2 people testing these, fans of Sony. One works to a store like Amazon in my country an notifies me also. Sad when it's only hope while these were solve so easily in the past! Thant is why when you want to help test them too with the same devices. Thank you anyways!

As I was saying, theoretically 59.0.A.8.45 should solve these camera issues but now it's practically upgraded to 59.0.A.8.45 and stock camera is still in the same bad condition. Bugs in every mode, freezing while focusing, bad manual mode and focus, extreme imprecise auto focus and slow finding objects. Unusable for night and HdR shots quality.

So all our complaints and all tests done and all 'so called helping hands', look how Sony is BS with grace upon you and all 10II users!
