I contacted the Xperia care. But all they could tell me is to send it back to the place where Ibought it and they'll send it back to Sony to unlock the device. A bit dissapointed as I hoped they would just have to push a few buttons and unlock it from distance. Hopefully not too much time passes by as my M4 is getting fixed. But one thing I do know is that when I get it back I'm NOT going to configure the MyXperia security again.

MXTP created problems for me.

I recently bought me the xperia M4 aqua dual and configured the Myxperia service on the device. After day 3 I restarted the M4.

As the M4 was started up the MXTP gave me the lockdown screen with the verify, wifi settings and emergency call options on it. So as I wanted to unlock my device i pressed the verify button and a log in screen for my google account appears. I use my google account on all kinds of different devices so I logged in. But here someting goes wrong.

When I typed in the username and password to verify it is my M4 it gave me a loading icon for 2 seconds and then it says "incorrect username and/or password" and my M4 stays locked. To double check if my password and username are correct i logged in to another adroid device and my laptop with no problems. So now I'm stuck with a brand new non working xperia M4 and my hope for a good working security system is all lost.

Thanks Sony.

OK, same problem on my side. Full access to my Google account as well as to MyXperia account. I can locate the phone and make it ring, but no way to unlock it... quite a problem after using it for three days! Happened exactly the same way: locked after a restart.

Just hoping that local Xperia care WILL be able to help... not just should... and if nothing works out, does Sony pay back? Or should have I stayed on Wiko?

jb, fairly disappointed.

Just came off the phone with the shop I bought the M4 from. They are more helpfull then the Xperia care people. The guy from the shop had a few calls before from people with the same problem. In the recent update that I installed just before the M4 locked had a bug in the software that caused it. When i send my M4 back they'll send it to Sony and replace mine. If it's Sony that replaces the device or the shop, I don't know. So now it's just a matter of being patient.

I tried with the registered gmail Id like 100 times but in vain, I software repaired the phone from pcc, but still same protected mode, I deleted the device from the my xperia list by accessing the account from PC, but still it is locked down,Sony service centre is 400 kms away from where I live, It is really diffcult for me to go to service centre, Is there any way by which the phone can be unlocked online. I have great expectation from Sony, I am great fan of sony xperia phones, But this time I have become fed up, please help Sony.

SOLUTION / EDIT: It seems there IS a way to escape the lock caused by MXTP.

You have probbaly updated all the apps on your phone right after you set it up. It is quite normal to reboot the phone after installing a bunch of software, after all old Windows habits die hard. Unfortunately, It seems that MXTP hates updates.

Open the my Xperia website.

Erase the data on your M4 which is stuck on the "Protected" MXTP screen. You may need to re-login on the websie.

Let the phone reset itself to factory settings.

The MXTP screen pops up again when you run the Xperia initial setup. Enter your google login info here. It SHOULD go through now.

Frantically make sure at least 20 times that MXTP is disabled and curse it to oblivion with torment and pain for eternity.

You should also reboot to make sure it worked. I could also have been lucky, I can't promise it will work for everyone. It's certainly quicker than repairing through PC Companion or other flashing software.

From what I can guess, MXTP does not seem to work with the updated versions of various google services, and will only work properly with the version it was shipped with. Services like Android System Webview may also be the culprit here, since MXTP does open a web page internally. Hope this helps @Johan and the rest of the support staff.

OLD POST:

<STRIKE>I Bought an M4 and had to get it replaced the next day for a faulty mic. A week later I got my replacement and set it up. Then I just rebooted ONCE and now its stuck on the "Protected" screen because of MXTP. I am certain without a shade of doubt that I have full access to my google account and the information I am entering is correct. The phone can be tracked/ringed on the my Xperia website. It is even running all my applications in the background WITH THE SAME GOOGLE ACCOUNT. This is ridiculous. Preferably, I do not want to get another replacement, please help.</STRIKE>

@chayanray It should, actually. Just wipe your phone again remotely from the website, and try again from a stable, fast Wi-Fi network. Ensure that nothing is updated, and the phone is in a fresh factory reset state. Needless to say, make sure you're entering the correct credentials. Also, the latter part of step 5 is extremely important.

@jjkbssn Yay! Glad to have helped.
