Kinda weird, I live at tropical country, and this July the temperature is reach 34 celcius degree. I'm using Xperia M4 Aqua to take pictures on the beach at miday for a hours. I don't have overheat problem, although if I look into CPU-Z, the internal hardware sensor reach 60 celcius degree. I hope you get solved this problem. Cheers.

So i bought this phoen 10 days ago. It surpirised me that only after 4-5 minutes of using it it became exageratly hot. So 3 days ago i updated the o.s. but the problem didn't go away. I had smartphones even from theyr begining and never encountered such a problem that escalades so fast . I mean i never get the passed the 5 minutes video recording time because the camera app. shotsdownd due to overheating. same goes for data connection and i don't even want to talk about gaming o better yet gaming online( i am a Hearthstone fan and i never got to play more than a game due to overheating). The phone becomes unbearably hot that I cannot hold it in my hand and i close whatever i do because of the fear of damaging it permanently. I understand that this is a waterproof phone Sony but please don't make us use it all the time submerged. Hope u solve this problem soon.

The most battery goes to the display, atenna and so on. Play services only covers 9% of the consumption. I only have the antivirus that was preinstalled and no taskillers. As i said the phone is new and i have 4 aps installed one of which is a game and the rest are activation dependent not background functionality.

And 60 Celsius is ok for a plastic phone? How long before all that heat damages the nearby pieces? Is not ok is a fault in the Snapdragon 600 series that needs to be repaired with an update.

Yes, 60 degree Celcius is hot, if the sensor are accurate. I have Xperia SP, CPU-Z detected only around 50 degree celcius maximum, but when I touched it's warmer than Xperia M4 Aqua. I also notice after update to 26.1.A.2.99 the high speed quad core part is never goes below 960 MHz when idle.

Are you using the phone while it is charging? If so, what are you doing on the phone?

You could try running a software repair on the handset with PC Companion to see if that helps, you can back up your phone first by clicking Start under Backup and restore and then when that finishes go to Start under Support Zone > phone/tablet update > repair my phone/tablet > continue to follow on screen insctructions). If this doesn't help, you can then contact your local Xperia Customer Care team.

Reply by Sony,

Dear Qaisar,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Xperia support centre.
Regarding your inquiry about your Sony Xperia M4 Aqua heating up, please refer to the below:
Doing a software repair updates your software to the latest version and fix any issues that you might be facing.
It is recommended that you first do a back-up of all your phone's content before doing a software repair, as data may be lost during the repair process.
To do a back-up of your mobile device content, please find steps below:
To back-up your phone using PC Companion
To install PC Companion:
Please note! Kindly make sure, before installing PC Companion, that you have the latest version of Java (found at www.java.com) installed on your computer. Also make sure that all firewalls and anti-virus programs are disabled.
1. Go to our website www.sonymobile.com and select the English International Site
2. Select your phone under [Support] > [Find your Product]
3. Find [Read more and Download PC Companion]. Select and download on next page.
4. Select [Run Startme.exe]
1.When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.
2.Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
3.Click [Start] under Backup & Restore.
4.Follow the on-screen instructions.
Viewing detailed information on what will be backed up
Exactly what contents will be backed-up may differ depending on phone model.
You can view detailed information about this as you follow the steps in the Backup & Restore wizard.
Tip! You can also back-up and manage music tracks, videos and photos/images by using Media Go.
Download Media Go via PC Companion, or from http://mediago.sony.com/enu/download.
After you have done a back-up of all your data, you can now do a software repair. Please find steps below:

SOFTWARE REPAIR
To repair your software using PC Companion kindly follow these steps:
Note: If you have just installed PC Companion on a computer, disconnect and then reconnect your phone before downloading the software updates.
To repair your phone software using PC Companion:
Please be sure that your phone has enough memory as the repair takes some of the phone memory and that your phone battery is more than 90% while you are updating your phone.
Kindly follow these steps:
1. Open PC Companion. Find Support Zone and select the [Start] option underneath.
2. On the next screen you will find Phone/Tablet Software Updates, select [Start] underneath.
3.
Performance and lag for E2303 and 26.1.A.2.99 firmware

Owing E2303 for a couple of days. Came with the letest firmware 26.1.A.2.99.

Well its performance is unacceptable for a handset using 615 soc.

Its antutu 26-27K score is almost on par with moto g 3rd gen 23-24K which carries the much slower 410 soc.

Tried a dozen brosers, all lag in scrolling and web page rendering is slower than my 2013 moto g!

Lag is everywhere except navigating in the UI. Even swithing to the previous app is laggy.

I saw a handset which did not had this firmware installed, scored 35K in antutu and was really running flawlessly, hooter than mine but usable. The performance i saw was the reason to buy it.

Now i am disapoinited and i can't take my money back...

PS. I have already done factory reset, nothing changed. The new forware in order to reduce heat reduces performance as well.
