Hi @mitroug31

High speed HDMI cables have been about for several years so 5 year old cables should be fine. That is if they are high speed and short (under 3m). I’m still using the 2016 HDMI lead that came with my Sky Q box. I get fantastic UHD HDR pictures, mind you on a slightly better (and expensive) quality XR-55A95K.

It is always worth trying a new HDMI cable as they are really cheap.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/AmazonBasics-High-Speed-Ultra-HDMI-Cable/dp/B014I8SSD0/ref=sr_1_1?th=1

TV only weeks old....Not subscribed to any UHD Channels ( Using Virginmedia)....an opportunity arose to view a Channel in UHD free of charge.

I selected the Channel, which appeared bright and clear, for about 2 seconds! it then appeared dull with 'HDR' displayed at the bottom of the screen!

When I then navigated away from this Channel all I got was a black screen which ever Channel I tried! and when I tried to go to the Home screen it did not respond as normal, everything seemed to be in slow-motion!

Eventually had to switch off and re-start.

Any ideas?

Mike

Hi @mitroug31

As your TV is only a few weeks old, your first point of contact should be the retailer that sold it to you. Have you set the input port to Enhanced in the TV’s settings?

I would make sure that the TV is running the latest software.

https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/lcd-tvs-android-x72k_x73k-series/kd-50x72k/software/00281548

Thanks for the input Lightfoot....Already upgraded to latest software , and on this model setting up of input ports doesn't have the option to set to 'enhanced'!?

What are your thoughts regarding cables?...I am using cables that are at least 5 years old.

Cheers

Mike
